Lady Edith Crawley/ Laura Carmichael/Downton Abbey

This is the first drawing of my series on Downton Abbey's costumes.

Downton Abbey is a British television period drama series. The series is set during the late Edwardian era and the First World War in the fictional estate of Downton Abbey in Yorkshire.

In this tutorial you'll see me draw one of Lady Edith's dresses. Lady Edith Crawley played by Laura Carmichael is the second daughter to Lord and Lady Grantham. During the series Edith is often the "forgotten" one as she was not as pretty and smooth-talking as her older sister Mary and less daring and passionate than Sybil, the youngest. Her dresses reflect her personality with their simplicity and rather unimpressive designs. For this tutorial I changed one of her dresses and made it more glamorous by adding a belt/facing at the lower waist finished at each end with a beaded tassel. The tassel is constructed of black beads.
